Hot Stone Massage

Like all massages, a hot stone massage relaxes your muscles and reduces tension. But because of the heat and hardness of the stones, it also allows our massage therapists to work on deeper muscles and address the areas which cause problems and will help reduce the stress.

The stones are made of basalt and range in weight from less than an ounce to up to three pounds, depending on the area of your body being worked on. The heat of the stones increases blood flow to the area and helps reduce tension rapidly.

During a hot stone massage:

• Stones will be heated to between 130 and 145 degrees Fahrenheit.
• You will lie down on a series of stones that have been covered by a sheet or towel.
• Another sheet or towel will be placed over your body - and therapist will be massaging with warm oil first then with warm stones. Feels warm and stones make up for a deep tissue massage without pain.
• While these stones are passively working on your body, our therapist will take smaller stones in his or her hand and start to use them to provide a personalized massage.
• You will then be rubbed with soothing oils at the end of your hot stone massage treatment.

Hot stone massage has become very popular, as many people report feeling calmer and healthier after a single session. Others report that the treatment feels more effective on deeper muscle tension than traditional hand massage.
